Tullibee – Hewing Hotel – Gentleman Forager

Almost too pretty to eat! These are Gentleman Forager‘s local, wild, foraged mushrooms served at Tullibee. Tullibee is part of the Hewing Hotel located in the Minneapolis North Loop neighborhood. It is one of my favorite spots for brunch so I was over the moon to have the opportunity to capture some food photos.

I started working with Gentleman Forager (Mike Kempenich) after attending one of Mike’s guided morel hunts. You can read about that experience by clicking HERE.

Gentleman Forager provides the freshest, most beautiful, mushrooms and wild plants in the forests to the tables of restaurants, innovative chefs, and mushroom lovers. Mike also believes education is a key component to changing the way people think about what they eat and where it comes from. Gentleman Forager teaches people to identify many species of wild Minnesota mushrooms and organizes weekend festivals in the woods. He also plans many “wild” food dinners and events with Minneapolis restaurants and chefs throughout the year. The next festival is the Lobster Mushroom Jamboree! You can find details either on the website at www.gentlemanforager.com or Facebook pagePhoto Jul 30, 8 16 54 AMChef Bradley Day was a blast to work with! So creative and so passionate about food. He is a native Australian with an extensive résumé. He spent years in London and New York at high-end restaurants and is now excited about being part of the Minneapolis community. He enjoys working with fresh, local ingredients and is creating beautiful dishes with the Gentleman Forager mushrooms and microgreens. You can read more about him by clicking HERE.

Mill City Summer Opera & Project SUCCESS

Mill City Summer Opera is an annual outdoor world-class opera performed at the beautiful Mill City Museum. This year, due to updates being done at the museum, it was performed at another awesome non-traditional venue, the Machine Shop. A couple days before opening night they partnered with Project SUCCESS for an event.

Project SUCCESS‘s mission is to motivate and inspire young people to dream about the future, help them take steps to get there and give them the tools they need to achieve their goals. ps-1-10I would have loved to be involved in this program when I was young. Such a wonderful opportunity for these kids to see behind the scenes. They got to meet and talk with the artistic and production staff and the cast.

    Angell Wedding

w-1-26It’s been such a fun summer of photo shoots! I loved being second shooter to Jill of Shine On Photos for this destination wedding. The wedding was in Wabasha, MN and the reception was at the Hidden Meadow and Barn in Lake Pepin, WI. The Hidden Meadow and Barn is a photographer’s dream location to shoot with such amazing backdrops. w-1-44Yes, that IS a double rainbow! We were so fortunate that after a short rainfall, this happened! The wedding party, guests and Jill took big yellow buses from the church to the reception and Jill captured beautiful photos along the way. She has a great eye for the perfect background. I followed with our equipment and when the buses stopped, I would run up to shoot different angles. I ended up with the nickname – “storm chaser” 🙂 a-1-4w-1-18a-1-2a-1-5w-1-16w-1-30Such a beautiful couple, family and service! w-1-22w-1-19w-1-15a-1-7w-1-25w-1-24w-1-32w-1-38 How cute are these littles?  w-1-10w-1-3w-1-5w-1-6w-1-27I hope to come back to this location soon. a-1-6w-1-37w-1-31The perfect ending….w-1-45Thank you for the adventure, Jill! Art of Edina – Dragonfly Display

You guys! Check out Art of Edina‘s amazing Dragonfly Display at Southdale Center. These dragonflies were made by local 2nd graders in honor of Abbey and Abbey’s Hope Charitable Foundation. I’m sure you remember hearing about Abbey’s horrific pool accident. As public pools start to open for the year, swimmer and pool safety is more important than ever.

What I love most about this….the kids learned about a scary incident and pool safety at the same time as creating beautiful art.

These photos are from the launch party last weekend.
